The VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 has shattered previous viewership records, peaking at 460,297 concurrent viewers and drawing an average of 122,950 according to Esports Charts. Hosted at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany, the event became the most-watched Game Changers tournament ever.
With 10 competing teams and 50 hours of broadcast time, the event accumulated an impressive 6.25 million total hours watched. MIBR, despite finishing as runners-up to Shopify Rebellion, still topped viewership charts with 2.9 million hours watched, while G2 Gozen claimed the third spot with 1.8 million.
The 2024 Championship is now the second most-viewed women’s esports event in history, trailing only the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Tournament at the 2023 SEA Games, which reached a peak of 1.3 million viewers. It also ranked as the eighth most-watched VALORANT event of the year, outperforming tournaments like EMEA Kickoff and VCT Americas Stage 2.
The Game Changers series, designed to support women and marginalized genders, has steadily grown since its inception, offering a welcoming environment for non-male players to compete at high levels. Riot Games has outlined plans to enhance the series further, including better progression opportunities from Game Changers to Challengers and other miscellaneous structural improvements.
