It's hard to believe, but the iconic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series is turning 25 years old this September 29. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, the legend himself, Tony Hawk, has apparently been in discussions with Activision about an "insanely exciting" project that fans are sure to appreciate.
While Tony couldn't share many specifics due to a non-disclosure agreement, he did reveal publicly for the first time that he and Activision are collaborating on something special for the Pro Skater franchise. "I wish I could tell you more, but I can say that I've been in discussions with Activision again — which is incredibly exciting. We're collaborating on something. This is the first time I've mentioned this publicly. I can't disclose any specifics … but I believe it will be something that fans will genuinely enjoy," Hawk told Mythical Kitchen's Last Meal series.
The news comes with the recent changes to the Pro Skater social media accounts, which have updated their logos to a broader THPS theme and started promoting the 2020 remaster of the first two games. This has led many fans to speculate that an announcement could be imminent, especially with the original game's 25th-anniversary date approaching.
In 2022, Hawk revealed that he, Activision, and Vicarious Visions were working on remastered versions of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4. Still, the project was later shelved due to Vicarious being absorbed by Blizzard. However, with Hawk's latest comments, there's hope that those plans may be revived in some form to celebrate the series' silver anniversary.
While most details remain disclosed, Tony Hawk's excitement is surely a good sign, and it's clear that something special is in the works for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater fans. Whether it's a new game, a remaster collection, or something entirely unexpected, the 25th anniversary will surely be memorable for the beloved skateboarding franchise.
