In a surprise announcement during PlayStation's September State of Play, Palworld launched on the PlayStation 5 on September 24, 2024.

Developed by Pocketpair, the game is often described as "Pokémon with guns", blending creature-collecting gameplay with action-packed mechanics. The game has been a hit since its January launch, quickly amassing millions of players. And while being available on PC and Xbox platforms, the PS5 release was hinted at during the Tokyo Game Show. However, no PS4 or Switch release has been mentioned.

The game’s aforementioned similarities to Pokémon having sparked comparisons right from the beginning, the entire conversation around it culminated last week in a lawsuit from Nintendo and Pokémon. Due to this legal dispute, a Nintendo Switch version seems unlikely.

Nonetheless, despite the ongoing lawsuit, Palworld continues to grow, with the new PS5 release offering more players the chance to experience the unique game. The price is expected to be around $29.99, similar to other platforms. And fans are eager to see how the game will evolve amidst legal challenges.
