Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, one of Valorant's most iconic players, has announced his retirement from competitive play. The Canadian star shared the news in a seven-minute video on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, closing the chapter on a remarkable career.

TenZ initially made his mark in esports through Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS) before transitioning to Valorant. After competing with Cloud9 in CS, he joined their Valorant roster and quickly rose to prominence. In March 2021, he made a pivotal move to Sentinels, where his impact was immediate. Sentinels dominated the North American scene, securing the first seed for the VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík by winning the VCT 2021 North America Stage 2 Challengers 2.

In May 2021, TenZ and Sentinels achieved international glory by defeating Fnatic in the grand finals of the VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík, making them the first international champions in Valorant history. This victory solidified TenZ's reputation as one of the game's elite players.

Despite the early success, Sentinels faced challenges in subsequent international tournaments, including an unexpected exit at Valorant Champions 2021. Following a period of underperformance in 2022 and 2023, Sentinels made a strong comeback in 2024, winning the VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff and the VCT Masters Madrid. However, they finished fourth at Valorant Champions 2024.

TenZ's retirement marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking achievements in Valorant esports.
