Indian Esports and gaming company NODWIN Gaming has announced the full acquisition of German Esports firm Freaks 4U Gaming in a deal worth 30.3 million euros (32 million USD approximately). The transaction, set to occur in phases, will initially see NODWIN acquiring 57% of Freaks 4U shares, with the remaining shares transferring ownership at a later date.

This acquisition follows a challenging period for Freaks 4U Gaming, which recently announced layoffs to sustain operations amid the tough Esports landscape. Despite receiving a 8.5 million USD investment from NODWIN in January 2024, the German company has faced financial difficulties.

NODWIN Gaming's increased investment will boost its stake from 13.51% to 57% through a share swap agreement. The remaining shares will be held by Freaks 4U founders Michael Haenisch, Matthias Remmert, and Jens Enders until they are eventually swapped, completing NODWIN's full acquisition.

Freaks 4U CEO Michael Haenisch expressed enthusiasm about the merger, stating, "We are thrilled to join forces with NODWIN Gaming to create a robust network and synergies unprecedented in our industry. With our shared vision and ambition, we look forward to driving global expansion and spearheading innovation and growth for gaming and Esports."

Details on whether the acquisition will impact the announced layoffs at Freaks 4U Gaming have not been disclosed at this time.
