The close beta phase of Fragpunk, a fast paced 5v5 hero-shooter, started on October 10, with a total of 9 maps, 12 characters, and 70 "Shard cards".

With the hero shooter landscape being highly competitive, Fragpunk distinguishes itself with their unique card system that drastically influences and modifies gameplay mid-match. They provide various advantages such as health boosts or attack enhancements, adding a strategic layer to the game.

The selections may vary from round to round, creating new and unique combinations resulting in different matches every time. Said cards can amplify your jump height, reverse the roles of attackers and defenders, engulf your bullets in flame or turn them into chain lightning and can even resurrect you alongside your teammates.

Furthermore, the game maintains a standard 5v5 format with modes like 'plant the bomb,' where teams compete in a best-of-seven setup. Additionally, players can mix and match characters and weapon loadouts.

Players can sign up for beta access on both Xbox and PC. However, signing up doesn't necessarily ensure you will get access, but with the beta running on a first-come first-served basis, the faster you register, the higher your chances are.

On Xbox, you must first go to the Xbox Insider Hub. From there, go to Previews and then Fragpunk. All you have to do then is choose "join" and you'll be set. Once your registration is finished, wait for confirmation to know if you got a slot or not.

As for the PC version, you must first open Steam and visit the Fragpunk store page there. Then, scroll down and select "Request Access" under the "Join the FragPunk Playtest" banner. If you're selected to join the beta, Steam will send you an email confirming your slot.

The FragPunk beta will end on October 21. The beta will also feature crossplay, allowing matchmaking between Xbox and PC.
