Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken’s chief and a fan of quirky character cameos, has long dreamed of adding Colonel Sanders, the iconic KFC mascot, to the popular fighting game series. However, despite his best efforts, it seems KFC has no interest in letting their founder join the fight.
In a recent interview, Harada revealed that he once pitched the idea to KFC’s Japan headquarters but was met with disapproval. “I wanted to have Colonel Sanders fight,” Harada said, but the fast-food giant gave him “a bad look,” leading him to drop the idea.
Harada has been vocal about this dream for years, explaining that Tekken’s team even had a plan to bring the Colonel into the game. But KFC’s marketing department has consistently rejected the idea, concerned that players may not respond well to the unusual crossover. Ironically, Colonel Sanders has appeared in other games, like Funko Fusion and a meme-based dating sim, but his Tekken debut remains elusive.
While KFC isn’t on board, Harada still holds out hope that one day the Colonel will make it into the Tekken roster. For now, fans will have to wait to see if the fried chicken icon ever steps into the ring.
