Discovery One Mobile Mania powered by Airtel, the biggest mobile gaming event in the history of Bangladesh with a cumulative prize pool of 3 million BDT across 3 titles, has found its finalists for the eFootball segment. Ryan “Ryan_Ismail” Khan and Abdullah “Dada-Bhai” Jahangir will be the top two players who will fight it out for a shot at the ultimate championship on July 12.
Abdullah’s journey throughout this tournament was tumultuous, to say the least. Juggling office work and a personal life simultaneously meant that it was challenging to find time for practice.
“I haven’t participated in any eFootball tournaments in a while,” he shared. “So naturally, I didn’t have many expectations for D1 Mobile Mania either, especially since office hours were a hindrance. However, by the grace of the Almighty, the tournament organisers were very accommodating for my time issues, and I could reach the Grand Finale of such a major tournament.”
He further stated, “Before the quarter-final round, my phone got stolen. During the semi-final match, my phone’s touch response stopped working properly and I lost a round. I was definitely panicking at the time, given that my opponent was a very skilled player. But I followed my tactics of starting off defensive, and thankfully it worked out and I could win.”
Similarly, Ryan did not come into the tournament with much expectations either.
“I did not think I could reach the final round at all,” he shared. “Even while the semis were ongoing, I still doubted my abilities to reach the Grand Finale.”
Ryan further continued, “Now that I’m so close to the finish line, I’m obviously nervous about appearing in front of such a large crowd on such a large stage. But I know one thing for sure: I have to be the champion. If luck is on my side and I can deliver my best performance, I know that I can win.”
Abdullah had other ideas, however, as he thinks that Ryan is no match for him. “My opponent is attacking and his signature move is the double touch. But he is also very predictable, so I know that I can attack his weak points, keep him under pressure, and beat him easily.”
