GeoGuessr World Cup 2024 Sees Explosive Growth, Tripling Viewership From Last Year

The recent GeoGuessr World Cup 2024 has made significant strides in the esports world, surpassing expectations with its viewership and prize pool.

The geography-based guessing game, GeoGuessr, saw its peak viewership rise from 71,000 in 2023 to nearly 270,000 in 2024, marking a staggering 270% increase. Average viewership also jumped from 25,000 to 60,000, while hours watched skyrocketed from 430,000 to 1.5 million.

With a $100,000 prize pool, the tournament culminated in a LAN final where French player Mathieu "Blinky" Huet won the $25,000 grand prize, defeating MK in a tense 3-2 final.

The tournament has garnered quite some attention from mainstream media following its popularity this year, hinting GeoGuessr as potentially the next emerging force in esports.
