G2’s record-breaking playoff run in Counter-Strike 2 might be in jeopardy as the IEM Dallas champions will have to face this week’s BLAST Premier Spring Final without their AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who cannot travel to the UK because of visa issues.
The news was shared on X yesterday, where the organization stated that coach TaZ would fill in for m0NESY in the finals. G2 will now have to pull through with a fill-in if they are to continue their playoff run, having reached the finals of every offline CS2 tournament since the game’s release in September last year.
G2’s social media team then humorously commented about “wishing to repeat the Dallas story” where the team won at the tier-one event while their captain HooXi was not present, as he was attending his sister’s wedding. With Stewie2K coming in, shot-caller NiKo guided the team to its first CS2 triumph. However, one of the main drawbacks that G2 may face this time is the absence of their 19-year-old wunderkind m0NESY.
