G2 Esports, as to no one's surprise, wins the League of Legends European Championship Finale (again) at Munich, Germany playing against team Fnatic. They secured the win in a decisive 3-1 scoreline with better map plays and macro plays that cemented them as the best team from Europe.
The first game on Summoner’s Rift was a long stranded game with Fnatic in the lead for most of the time until towards the mid-late game. This is when G2’s prowess in macro and map movement came to dominate with very smart pick plays from Mikyx and team and sidelaning masterclass from the best player ever in Europe, Caps. This style of play was ever present throughout the series, if not in the second game, where FNC Humanoid overcame his shortcomings on Smolder and carried the team to the last hit on the enemy nexus.Game 3 and 4 had very similar outcomes where G2’s macro, map movement and sidelaning came into play in the mid to late game phase as they dominated Fnatic with the chokehold on their macro understanding. Fnatic made many valiant attempts at coming back into the series with Razork and Humanoid trying out catch and pick plays but unfortunately fell short to G2 Esports’ vision control and better understanding of the Summoner’s Rift map. The LEC Season Finale win secures G2 the first seed from LEC, with Fnatic as the second seed and MAD Lions KOI the third seed. G2 Esports and Fnatic will directly qualify for the main swiss stage of Worlds 2024 to be held in Europe, while MDK will have to play through the play-ins stage to qualify for the swiss stage. Worlds 2024 starts from the next 25th of September with play-ins and swiss stage in Berlin.
