Bloodborne, a 2015 action RPG from FromSoftware, is one of the most beloved titles for its haunting atmosphere, punishing yet rewarding combat, and unique blend of gothic horror and Lovecraftian lore, epitomizing the soulsborne genre. However, unlike other landmark FromSoftware games, it remains a PlayStation exclusive, leaving PC gamers unable to take part in the beasthunt in the decaying city of Yharnam.
PC gamers have long clamored for a port, and even Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's director and company's president, has acknowledged the desire. However, publisher Sony is yet to budge and refuses to even chime in on the topic.
In an interview with PC Gamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked about the possibility of Bloodborne on PC. He pointed to producer Yasuhiro Kitao and interpreter Bobby Simpson and said, “I know for a fact that these guys want a Bloodborne pc port”.
However, his answer becomes more cagey as he thinks he would “get in trouble as well” if he said he wanted it but also remarked in favor saying, “It’s nothing I’m opposed to.” He continued by explaining that he wants more players to explore the world of Bloodborne, especially as time goes by many great games get lost to older hardware.
Sony's decision to still hold on to a port for PC for Bloodborne is bizarre, especially since many of the exclusives have made the jump. Many non-console fans are desperate for a remake and a port to other platforms and the game staying only on the PlayStation 4 has sparked outrage from the community since Sony has brought the PlayStation 5 into the market too for a better gaming experience.
However, the lack of a PC port hasn't stopped the Bloodborne community. Fan creations abound online, from detailed lore analyses to artistic renderings of the game's world. This fervent passion only strengthens the argument for a PC release, allowing a whole new audience to experience Bloodborne's gothic brilliance.
While there's no official word on a PC port, the hope still endures. Bloodborne is a game that deserves to be experienced by as many players as possible, and a PC release would be a dream come true for countless hunters.
