The Esports World Cup 2024, the world's largest gaming festival, has introduced a never-before-seen trophy system that is set to change the way champion athletes are recognised. This unprecedented system not only celebrates the victors but also immortalises their achievements in a truly unique way.

At the beginning of the competition, each participating team will receive a special "key" which can be separated into 2 parts, a metal frame and an inner key. This key serves as a symbol of their participation and a representation of their journey throughout the tournament.

When a team wins their chosen game, the champion will place their inner key inside the trophy, while their outer frame is added to a majestic totem. This totem, which will stand proudly in Riyadh for all to see, serves as a testament to the victors of each game and the overall champions of the Esports World Cup.

To add drama and significance to the competition, the keys of losing teams will be crushed and encased in resin at the bottom of the totem. This symbolic gesture serves as a reminder of the sacrifices and challenges faced by those who fell short of the ultimate prize.

As a consolation and recognition of their efforts, all contenders will receive a souvenir medal placed in their outer frame. This medal will showcase the position they finished in, ensuring that even those who did not win the championship are acknowledged for their hard work and dedication.

The final twist in this unique trophy system is that the champions of each game can pick the keys of three opponents to place in their trophy. These keys will be a constant reminder of who they defeated on their path to glory, adding an extra layer of prestige and significance to their victory.

The tournament started on July 3 and will continue til August 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Featuring 22 tournaments across 21 different game titles with over $60 million in total prize money. Despite some criticism over Saudi Arabia's human rights record leading to boycotts by certain teams, the EWC promises to be a landmark event, hosting a massive gaming festival alongside the intense Esports competitions as the world's top players compete for the ultimate Esports title.
