Annapurna Interactive, the game publisher behind acclaimed titles like Stray, Outer Wilds, and Neon White, has just seen its entire staff resign following a leadership dispute. According to Bloomberg News, the division's president, Nathan Gary, had been negotiating with founder Megan Ellison in order to spin off the company’s gaming segment into its own organisation. However, when Ellison pulled out of negotiations, Gary and 25 other staff members, including division co-heads Deborah Mars and Nathan Vella, collectively resigned. “This was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make,” the team shared in a joint statement.

Despite the mass departure, Ellison has assured that Annapurna Interactive's existing projects and partnerships will continue. Hector Sanchez, the company’s newly appointed president of the new and interactive media division, has reassured developers that the company remains committed to fulfilling ongoing contracts.

Annapurna Interactive has established a reputation for themselves by acting as publishing critically-acclaimed indie games, and have only relatively recently begun producing its own titles. Future projects from the company include Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, Ghost Bike, and Wanderstop.

Additionally, Annapurna is expanding into other media, including film and TV adaptations of Remedy Entertainment’s Control and Alan Wake. These live-action projects will further develop Annapurna's expertise in both gaming and storytelling across various platforms. And despite the upheaval, it seems that Annapurna remains focused on expanding its role in the interactive and transmedia landscape.
