Shadow of the Erdtree, the highly anticipated expansion of Elden Ring, Game of the Year of 2022 and the supposed “Game of the Decade” has broken the records in reviews and critics, already sitting at the top of all time expansion lists in games.

Since its release in 2022, Elden Ring has quickly established itself as one of the greatest games of all time. Revealing FromSoftware's game design to the masses, Elden Ring received a 96 on Metacritic and overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam. Fans have been eagerly anticipating an expansion and FromSoftware delivered with the announcement and release of Shadow of the Erdtree.

With From Software’s previous track record of delivering fantastic expansions, there were not many doubts heading into the release of Shadow of the Erdtree. Now that some reviews have come out, it is safe to say that even those doubts have been cleared. With a staggering 95 on Metacritic, it's not only From Software’s best expansion but also the highest-rated video game expansion of all time, followed by The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion and Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker.
