A Brazil-based indie developer and Baldur’s Gate superfan by the name of “vikintor” created a custom Doom map based around the Githyanki tribe and culture from the world of the super franchise Baldur’s Gate. The map serves more like a hub area from the RPG but created in the planescape theme of Doom’s 2d world. Vikintor’s project serves a little similar to an extended epilogue to one of the endings of Baldur’s Gate 3, as there are elements from the Gith tribe like open cathedral interiors, wooden interiored living quarters, and stony surreal industrial structures.

Fellow Baldur’s Gate connoisseurs and enjoyers will love this map in the form of a 2D world, since it also requires tons of exploration in the map taking up quite a long time. Character models from the game have also been added as submissions from fellow Githyanki players to populate the map and add to the atmospheric feel the original game delivers. The cherry on top is the map puts you in third person perspective and it solidifies the exploration factor by making the zone free of combat completely.

The map is set on the periphery of one of BG3’s endings, where the player takes control of a Githyanki in the middle of the cosmic rebellion of Lae’zel and Orpheus, mirroring a below deck episode from Baldur’s Gate 3. Vikintor is marketing the map on his website on itch.io for free and does not require the player to have Doom installed. Don’t forget to also stay up to date on vikintor's other work on itch.io or X.
