The Open Esports Student Games 2024 (OXY 2024) concluded recently in Sochi, Russia. Team Serbia lifted the champions trophy while Team Bangladesh bowed out in the group stage of the international LAN finale.

Bangladesh’s lineup, composed of Faisal Arman Anik (Hiraeth), Mohammed Sayakh Altaf (Senpai), Imtiaj Ahmed Rohan (WindTouch), Anjum Ferdous Utsho (copycat), and MD. Rafee Alam (Zet^), won one out of their seven matches. After being drafted into Group B alongside teams from Serbia, Mongolia, India, Belarus, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the hosts, Russia, Team Bangladesh won their first matchup against Vietnam with a 1-0 scorecard. However, things would go downhill from there as they lost all six of their remaining matches. In the end, they finished second-last in their group with a difference of -5. Overall, Bangladesh ranked 15th out of 16 teams in the LAN finals.

Team Serbia finished as the leaders of Group B with 6 victories and a difference of +5. Group A saw a clean sweep by Team Kazakhstan as they bagged a difference of +7.

The Playoffs, which commenced on October 24, saw Serbia win all of their upper bracket matches before advancing to the Grand Finale. They were joined by Team Mongolia who, despite losing their first upper bracket match, eventually reached the finals through the lower bracket. It would not be enough to stop Serbia though, as the Slavs took home the Finale 2-1 to seal their victory. Team Kazakhstan became the second runner-ups behind Mongolia.

The tournament’s prize pool was approximately 51,000 USD. Serbia clenched approximately 21,000 USD while the rest was divided among the top 8 teams.

The international round of OXY 2024 was held at the Bolshoi Sports Palace in the Olympic Park in Sochi, Russia. It commenced on October 22 and concluded on October 25.
