In a stunning show of dominance over the past few months, Bangladeshi players took to the leaderboards of the global Street Fighter 6 tourney, CPT 2024 World Warrior: Asia South qualifiers. M Saiful Islam, who goes by his gamer tag “Si Anik” clinched the champion’s title in the regional round. With a commanding 150 points, 40 more than the runner-up, Anik emerged as the top contender.

Moreover, the leaderboard saw 6 Bangladeshi players sitting comfortably in the top 8. Raihanur "lllRaihanlll" Rahman was the second runner-up with 105 points, while the other top Bangladeshi players were Baadshah_Miya in 4th position, Noobrito in 6th, Tony97 in 7th, and Puptrat in 8th.

All six of them will be part of the top eight players who have moved on to the regional finals, set to be held in November 2024. In the Regional Finals, the top 4 players from the qualifiers will be seeded into the Winners Side of a double-elimination bracket, with the remaining 4 players being seeded into the Losers Side. At the end of it all, the winner of the regional final will qualify for the prestigious Capcom Cup 11.

The World Warrior program, running from June to December 2024, serves as a pathway to the Capcom Cup, with 38 entrants from 24 regions competing for a spot in the final tournament, and a shot at the 1,282,000 USD grand prize. The South Asian qualifiers were open to players from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and India.

With Anik leading the charge for a chance to represent South Asia on the global stage, we wish the Bangladesh contingent best of luck!
