Bleach fans were in for a treat at the recent Anime Expo in Los Angeles, where Bandai Namco announced a new title, Bleach Rebirth of Souls. The game is slated for a PCs and console release and it’s “coming soon”.
The announcement was made on day two of Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center on 5th July, with a late trailer for Bleach Rebirth of Souls revealing that the game is now in development. Produced by Bandai Namco and developed by Tamsoft Corporation, the new title will be a 3D arena fighter and will support two players locally and online.
Compared to the series’ catalog, Rebirth of Souls seems to be the first full-fledged console release for the Bleach franchise in over a decade. The new game seems to cover a large portion of the show’s storyline, with the trailer showing segments from different parts of the story up to the Arrancar arc. Throughout Rebirth of Souls, players will find themselves in battles featuring Bleach icons Ichigo, Rukia, Uryu, and Sado, using and unlocking different abilities like Bankai.
With Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War being incomplete, some speculate final storylines could be added as DLC. However, others have noted they will be somewhat disappointed if the game is unable to cover the entirety of the series, considering the manga has been completed for quite some time. That being said, fans have been fairly vocal about their excitement seeing a completely new addition to the franchise.
Though the trailer states that the game is coming soon without any signs of an exact release date, Bleach Rebirth of Souls will be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
