Following the global release of Black Myth: Wukong, IGN and Forbes report that the game's Xbox version might not be due any time soon, and it isn't because of a technical memory issue. Instead, the game is currently a PlayStation 5 console exclusive.

Neither Sony nor GameScience have commented on potential exclusivity deals, but GameScience mentioned that the game is being optimized for Xbox. Microsoft has also released a statement regarding Black Myth: Wukong.

Microsoft stated, "We’re thrilled about Black Myth: Wukong launching on Xbox Series X|S and are collaborating with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. While we can’t discuss the agreements made by our partners with other platform holders, our focus remains on making Xbox the top choice for gamers, with outstanding games at the core of that effort."

It's important to mention that some have challenged the reports of an exclusivity deal. Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb stated that, according to his source, there is no financial agreement preventing the game from being on Xbox.

Previously, issues with the Series S have caused delays for other games, such as Baldur's Gate 3, due to the need for simultaneous launches of both Series X and S versions with feature parity. However, this doesn't appear to be the case with Black Myth: Wukong.

This exclusivity deal is a common practice in the gaming industry, used by publishers and developers to secure marketing and sales benefits. However, it can also lead to frustration among fans who prefer other platforms.
